The Hutchinson Art Center is proud to feature the work of Hutchinson, KS artist Melissa Carter in our Front Gallery for the months of March and April.

Melissa Carter has created some form of art or another throughout her life. She has used all sorts of mediums, with her current medium being acrylic and watercolor paints. With these materials she creates compelling portrait paintings. These paintings are influenced by her interest in people as artistic subjects and her ability to find beauty in all the different faces of the world. Her paintings aren’t just pretty pictures — the artist is able to masterfully exude her subject’s personality in such a way that it leads the viewer to ponder what lies beyond the surface of the canvas, wanting to know more about the person depicted. That is perhaps what makes Melissa Carter’s portrait paintings so beautiful.

This exhibition will be on display in the Front Gallery from March 14th - April 20th, 2025.
