About the Artist:
Glen Ediger is a retired inventor, engineer and designer with over thirty years of experience in his field. He was born on a wheat farm in western Harvey County, and has lived in Harvey County ever since. He attended Buhler High School and Bethel College, where he received his BA in Art. He and his wife Karen live in North Newton, Kansas.
Exhibition Statement:
The composed artwork is a result of three key components: industrial and natural materials (cans, rope, leaves, grass, etc.), our outdoors environment and time. The artwork is based on Glen Ediger’s personal philosophy: “Everything we do leaves an impression. Our actions, whether intended or not, create an effect on our environment and on our relationships. My art-form is an expression of that effect; it intends to “expose” both literally and figuratively the effects of our actions, by creating a patina, with rust and decay on to the medium, literally creating the art on the exposed material. I set up the exposure and with no manipulation, nature does the rest.”
