The Hutchinson Art Center is proud to feature the work of local artist and owner of Wabi-Sabi Artspace Pamela Zieburtz in our Front Gallery during the month of August.
This what Pamela has to say about her work and artistic practice:
“There are the moments of transitory beauty that surround us, yet we rarely have time to pause and contemplate them in our modern world. I often see the physical world in a state of “grace" and am reminded that man was created perfectly and is loved deeply in his state of imperfection.
Whether it is photographing natural simplicity, aging textures, or urban flawed beauty, I'm captured by the visual experience. In sharing, my mediums are photography, pastels, encaustic wax and often have a micro-to-macro view. I love watching someone respond instinctively to my work, even when they don’t recognize the origins.
Wabi-Sabi has grown as an international aesthetic movement. It is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is the beauty of things modest and humble and unconventional. It is a way of seeing the world which I embraced long before I knew of it. Learning the concept gave me a language that allows me to articulate what I love about the work I’m doing.”
This exhibition is on display in the Front Gallery from August 8th - 28th, 2024.
