On Display September 17th - 29th
The Hutchinson Art Center is excited to showcase local Photographer Kristen Garlow Piper during September's Third Thursday. Garlow Piper’s work will be displayed starting September 17th – 29th. While you are downtown enjoying the festivities, don't forget to swing by and check it out! We will be open later hours (8:00 PM) to join in on celebrating Third Thursday!
Artist Bio:
Kristen Garlow Piper graduated in Photojournalism from KU in 1976 and worked for several newspapers before becoming a freelance photographer in the early 1980’s. She is also a retired Critical Care Registered Nurse having worked in Topeka, Lawrence, and Kansas City and in Internet Marketing. After living in Seattle, WA, Charlotte, NC and Jackson Hole, WY she moved back to Kansas to focus solely on capturing her hometown before her next move. Her current clients include the Cosmosphere, Stage 9/Hutchinson Theater Guild, and the Hutchinson Symphony Orchestra. Kristen’s photography captures life in Kansas and her work has appeared in Hutchinson Magazine and KANSAS! Magazine. She also photographs architectural restoration projects which have included the Wiley Building, the art deco Catalyst Lofts, the vertical marquee of the Fox Theater and the Hutchinson Art Center. Garlow Piper has twice been an Artist-in-Residence at the Red Barn Studio in Lindsborg, Kansas and speaks to groups on “Storytelling Through Photography.
