The Hutchinson Art Center is pleased to display artwork by Constance Gehring during this month’s Third Thursday event. Gehring’s work will be on display at the Art Center until October 20th.
Artist’s Statement:
Constance Gehring has always been fascinated by color. As a young child, when her mother would put her down for a nap, she would stare at the quilt squares of pink, turquoise, and yellow. Throughout her life, she has experimented with embroidery, watercolors, acrylics, oils, stained glass, tissue paper collage, and weaving – all for the love of color and the results of putting color together. Gehring has been working with pastels since the Spring of 2009. She is currently working with pastels, oils, and alcohol inks and has won the following awards:
Masterworks, April 2013, 2nd Place in Pastel Miniatures, Albuquerque
Masterworks, April 2014, Jan Keefer Award of Excellence in Miniatures, Albuquerque
Corrales Plein Air, August 2014, Artist's Choice Award, Corrales, NM
People's Choice Award, Newton Spring Arts 2017
