Artist Bio:
The dream died in 1968 for a young mother and her 9-month-old son, when her high school sweetheart was drafted and killed in Vietnam. The political unrest and social climate of the time left her searching for relief and running from a total sense of loss and unrelenting pain. It was a quest for greener grass: Damian travelled with his mother coast to coast, through seven states and ten different schools by the time he graduated high school. He had been halfway around the world by the age of twenty-one. A career in construction seemed to be his calling, until a near fatal accident left him unable to work. This finally gave him enough time to pursue what had always been a hobby. Damian transformed into a self-taught artist, whose only artistic training came from a high school drawing class, “how to” books, and public television. He now lives in central Kansas with his elderly mother and two small kids.
Two of his favorite quotes are:
“Why try to fit in when you were born to stand out.” Dr. Seuss
“If you walk in someone else’s footprints, no one will ever know you were there.” Unknown
